Arunachal Pradesh :Seven PPA MLAs join NPP , boost to BJP

Itanagar ( Arunachal Pradesh) , July 17 : In a shot in the arm for the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh, seven of the nine MLAs of the People's Party of Arunachal today joined the National People's Party, a partner in the ruling alliance led by the saffron party.
NPP state president Gicho Kabak announced the development at a press conference in Itanagar after submitting the names of the MLAs to the assembly secretariat.
NPP and BJP are partners in the the North East Democratic Alliance, which governs the state.

Arunachal Pradesh : New plant Species discovered in Talle Valley

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh ) July 9 : Scientists  from Meghalaya based ,  North-Eastern Hill University(NEHU) , have discovered a new plant family in the country in the  Himalayan state of   Arunachal Pradesh.
The researchers, while studying the floristic account of Talle Valley Wildlife Sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh, collected some interesting specimens of a small yellow saprophytic plant, growing on decaying leaf litter, under the canopy of dense evergreen forest.

Arunchal Pradesh :NHRC asks govt to pay 'monetary relief' to 88 girls forced to undress by their teachers

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh ) , July 3 :The NHRC has asked the Arunachal Pradesh government to pay Rs 5,000 as "monetary relief" to each of the 88 girls who were allegedly forced to undress by their school teachers as punishment last year.
The students of class 6 and 7 of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Papum Pare district were subjected to the humiliating treatment on November 23 after they allegedly wrote vulgar words against the head teacher.

By the end of the evening , Mariam Longri  Arunachal Pradesh was crowned the 16th Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2018 .Tsurila from Nagaland was adjudged as the 1st runner -up while  Jyotismita Baruah from Assam was adjudged  2nd runner - up respectively.

Arunachal Pradesh : 5 people die after landslide in Itanagar, more feared stuck under debris

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Jun 25 : Arunachal Pradesh’s capital city Itanagar witnessed a massive landslide on Saturday night. The landslide came after a spell of heavy rains in the region. 
The incident took place in Itanagar’s Doni colony area. The landslide is said to have left 5 persons dead and few others injured. 
The rescue team was hard on work to retrieve the bodies stuck under the debris. Officials requested people to be aware seeing the heightened chances of landslides in the area during rainfalls.

Arunachal Pradesh : NSCN(IM) cadre arrested

Itanagar ( Arunachal Pradesh), June 24 :One  over-ground worker of NSCN (IM) was arrested by the Security Forces  during an operation at Longding district in the state  on Saturday.
The Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles yesterday launched an operation and apprehended the cadre of the outlawed outfit, Defence Spokesman Colonel Shiranjeet Konwer said.
 The cadre confessed  that he terrorised people in the district to extort money for the outfit, 

New flower species named after former Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), June 7: An Arunachalee scientist has dedicated a new species of flower that he discovered last year to former chief minister Dorjee Khandu, an official statement said.
Krishna Chowlu, a scientist with Botanical Survey of India (BSI), discovered the wild flower, which is white at the base and violet on the top, at a forest in Zemithang area of Tawang in September 2017.

Rare feat! Mountaineers from Arunachal Pradesh scale Mount Everest without sherpas

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), May 30 : Mountaineers Kishon Tekseng and Taka Tamut from Arunachal Pradesh have acheived the rare feat of scaling Mt Everest without any sherpas, a senior state government official said . Tekseng, from Yingkiong in Upper Siang district and Tamut, who hails from Jomlo Mongku in Siang district scaled the world’s highest peak on May 24, ten days after Muri Linggi of Roing who became the seventh Arunachalee to achieve the feat, state sports and youth affairs joint director Ramesh Lingi said.

Last hurdle cleared for first med college in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) , May 25 : The Centre has allowed the Arunachal Pradesh government to start the next academic session at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun with an intake of 50 MBBS students, paving the way for the state's first medical college.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued a Letter of Permission to the state government in this regard, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said.
