Manipur's black rice set for e-auction

Guwahati( Assam), May 19 :  Chakhao, Manipur's black rice, is all set to take the e-auction route. This is the first time that the rice, indigenous to Manipur, is being put up for e-auction.
The e-auction will be done by the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited on its portal from 10am on Friday.
An official said Neramac has already filed application for GI (Geographical Indications) for black rice under the Union commerce ministry.

Ramalingam Sudhakar sworn-in as Chief Justice of Manipur HC

Imphal (Manipur ), May 18 : Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar was today sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, an official said.
The Acting Governor of Manipur Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of office to Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar at Raj Bhavan here, Deputy Secretary of Governor's Secretariat S Pritamkumar Singh told PTI.
The ceremony was attended by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Manipur to soon launch air ambulance service: Minister, Jayentakumar

Imphal (Manipur) , May 17 :Manipur will soon launch an air ambulance service to reach out to the hill and rural areas that are difficult to access by roads, Health Minister L. Jayentakumar said on Wednesday.
Governor Najma Heptulla said that she had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an air ambulance service for far-off villages with poor road connectivity, to which Modi readily agreed.

Congress cites Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya in staking claim for Karnataka with JD(S)

4 truckloads of timber seized in Manipur

Imphal (Manipur) May 13 : The Assam Rifles on Saturday caught four trucks of timber being illegally transported from Joupi to Imphal in Manipur.
According to a statement by Public Relations Officer of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) (PRO IGAR-S), the entire seizure was immediately reported to the officials of district forest department in Chandel and handed over to the District Forest Officer (DFO), Imphal.

5 held for Manipur BSF camp blast

Railways working on key project in Manipur amid threat of militant groups

Noney (Manipur), May 11: The Railways is working on a key project that would provide rail connectivity to the capital of land-locked Manipur despite the threat of several militant outfits operating in the area, officials said today.
As many as 14 cases of shootings, kidnapping and violence targeting supervisors and engineers working on the Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal rail project have been reported in the last 12 months, resulting in delays.

Manipur : DRI, Assam Rifles seize 12 kg gold from Indo - Myanmar border

Moreh ( India -Myanmar border ) , May 11 : Department of Revenue Intelligence sleuths and Assam Rifles troopers, in a joint operation on Thursday, seized over 12 kg of gold valued at Rs 3.62 crore in Manipur, said a release.
The raid, conducted on the basis of specific intelligence developed by DRI, unearthed gold from the India-Myanmar border at Moreh.
