Meghalaya: No ban on Sale Of Fish till evidence of formalin presence

Shillong ( Meghalaya), July 19 :  Health and Family Welfare Minister, A L Hek said the state would not ban sale of fish as tests for formalin were found to be negative even as the government introduced a  formaldehyde detection kit for keeping a check on fishes imported from outside.
 
Addressing  a press conference , Hek said , “Until and unless, we are given any proof or evidence for the negative testing, for the time-being, we are not going to ban the sale of fish in Meghalaya,”

Shillong , July 17 :  The state goverment is contemplating to ban certain types of fishes  mainly from Andhra Pradesh,with a second test confirming  the presence of formalin .
 
Earlier , the Commissoner of food safety  had sent the fish samples to  Guwahati for testing .
 
The  Additional Chief Secretary in charge of health has said that the ban is expected soon after analyzing  the test results which found  formalin in the samples .

Shillong (Meghalaya), July 16 : The Meghalaya Assemblys Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has pulled up the state's SPV committee for its failure to implement Rs 200 crore funded by cement giant Lafarge for socio-economic development of the areas falling close to its mining site at Nongtrai-Shella in East Khasi Hills District reports PTI .
 

Meghalaya: Huge cache of arms, ammunition hidden by GNLA militants seized

Shillong ( Meghalaya) , July 14 : Police  here have recovered a stockpile of weapons hidden by the banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in the thick jungle of East Garo Hills district.
 
The weapons were recovered based on the lead provided by the tribal Garo villagers of Bagre and Dorengkigre about the stockpile of arms stashed by the GNLA militants.

Shillong( Meghalaya), July 11 : Her passion, sincerity and dedication  for wheels has taken her to the  position where she is today  . Meet  Shillong's Phoebe Dale Nongrum who is part  of the first-ever Formula LGB 4 women's team.
 
30 -year old Phoebe  has been  selected to be a part of a professional racing team, the Ahura racing.
Ahura racing, formed in 2017, is owned by Sarosh Hataria, a successful hand at the Formula LGB 4 circuit.

Meghalaya : Petrol Bomb hurled at MPSC office in Shillong

Shillong (Meghalaya), July 10 : A petrol  bomb was hurled at the office of the Meghalaya Public Commission  early Tuesday Morning  at 8 am.
 
However, no injuries were reported except minor  damages.
 
Police sources told southasiaviews.com  that the attackers  hurled  the bomb  in the room of MPSC Secretary, W.A. M. Booth and the investigation process is still on.

Meghalaya: Attempted Rape Victim succumbs to her Injuries

Shillong(Meghalaya), July 09: A 14 -year  old girl  on whom an attempt of  rape was  made  died of her injuries in a city hospital on Monday  evening.
 
The  girl  was hit on her  head with  a spade  when  she resisted  the  attempts by the accused .
 
The 14 year- old girl  was battling  for her life for the past  six days and and  finally  breathed  her last  this evening  at  a private  nursing home here in the capital city .
