Nagaland : NPF questions why different laws in different states

Dimapur(Nagaland ) ,May 18: Naga People’s Front, the opposition party in Nagaland referring Karnataka Governors decision to invite the largest party to form the government, today urged Governor PB Acharya to invite their party stating, “With 26 members, it was the single largest party.” Also questioned “why should different laws be applied in different states on the same matter?’
 

Straight fight between NDPP and NPF in Nagaland Lok Sabha bypoll on May 28

Kohima (Nagaland) ,May 17: The bypoll to the sole Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland on May 28 will witness a straight fight between the ruling NDPP and the opposition NPF, Returning Officer M Patton has said.
 
As Tokheho Yepthomi of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and C Apok Jamir of the Naga People's Front (NPF) did not withdraw nomination till the expiry of the official time last evening, only these two candidates were in fray, Patton told PTI .
 

Mini-Hornbill: NGTC resents non-inclusion of Wangala

Dimapur(Nagaland), May 15: Nagaland Garo Tribal Council (NGTC) has welcomed the decision of Nagaland Government to hold a mini-Hornbill festival in all the districts and sub-division coinciding with the respective tribal festivals of the tribes of Nagaland. However, the union expressed displeasure and resentment for not including the “Wangala”, a post harvest festival of the Garos in Dimapur district which falls on November 21.

Dimapur (Nagaland) , May 15: Social media helped Dimapur police in identification of a child found at Katihar Railway Station, Bihar along with a ticket of Avadh Assam originating from Dimapur.
 
Police informed that process has been put in motion to bring the child safely from Katihar.

Dimapur(Nagaland) May 10: Extending its full support to the protest call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) against meagre 2% salary increase offer, the Bank employees from Dimapur and Mokokchung staged protest demonstrations on Wednesday under the banner of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) Nagaland demanding decent wage revision to all scales immediately.

Dimapur(Nagaland), May 10: Two candidates filed their nominations on the last day of filing of nominations for the By-Election to the LokSabha, 2018 for the 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency at Commissioner’s office, Kohima today.
 
From ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Tokheho Yepthomi submitted his documents while  Ç Apok Jamir filed his papers as opposition Naga Peoples Front (NPF) candidate.  
 

Nagaland : Bailey bridge over Chathe River opens for public use

Dimapur(Nagaland ), May 6: The Bailey bridge over Chathe River, near CIHSR 4th Mile area, where the work began on February 3 opened for use almost exactly after three months, on Saturday.
 
PWD (R&B) executive engineer Er Talitemsu Jamir informed that the bridge, an ESR triple single reinforced bridge, having a load capacity of 38 tons can accommodate a single file of only light motor vehicles (single-lane) at a time is only a temporary measure.
 

Nagaland : CM Rio presses for development along Indo-Myanmar border

Dimapur(Nagaland): May 6: Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has welcomed the Free Movement Regime (FMR) that will facilitate free movement of Indian and Myanmarese citizens within 16 km along the Myanmar border. He, however, said there is a need to take up improvement of road infrastructure in the areas.
 
Nagaland shares around 215 kms of border with Myanmar and people on both sides share the same culture and languages. The FMR will facilitate travel across the two countries.
