Few hundred Tripura tribals went to Bangladesh for livelihood, claims CPI-M MP

Agartala (Tripura) , May 21 : In search of livelihood, around 600 tribals of northern Tripura went to Bangladesh as they were unable to survive in the northeastern state in view of the huge crisis on the foods and rural jobs fronts, CPI-M Chief Whip in Lok Sabha Jitendra Chowdhury has said.
"Around 600 tribals of three villages of mountainous Gobinda Bari areas of northern Tripura went to Bangladesh as they were unable to survive in the state in view of the huge crisis of food and rural jobs," Chowdhury told IANS.

Tripura floods render around 600 families homeless

 Chandrapur (Tripura), May 21:  Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall for more than 24 hours inflicted havoc in different parts of Tripura, forcing around 600 families to seek shelter at relief camps.
The District Magistrate of West Tripura district, Sandip Mahate said, "Due to incessant rains last night in Sadar and Jirania sub-division and several wards of Agartala Municipal Corporation, the water of Haora River is flowing at 10.3 meter which is .3 meter above danger level."

Tripura signs MoU with Spicejet Merchandise to boost pineapple export

Agartala (Tripura), May 20 : To boost the export of pineapples, state-run Tripura Horticulture Corporation Limited (THCL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Spicejet Merchandise Pvt Ltd during a seminar on processing and marketing of horticultural produce of Tripura.
The memorandum is targeted towards providing pineapples to major cities of the country.
The 'Queen' variety of pineapples is considered as the pride of Tripura.

Tripura CM warns IPFT over protests against appointment of BAC chiefs

Agartala (Tripura), May 16 : Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb  warned coalition partner Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) that stern action would be taken if they continued to cause public sufferings by holding agitations across the state over the appointment of the chairmen to the Block Advisory Committees (BACs).
The IPFT is a partner of the BJP in the coalition government in Tripura that came to power in March, putting an end to the 25-year rule of the Left Front in the north-eastern state.

Tripura government to announce new recruitment rules soon: Deputy CM Jishnu Devvarma

Agartala (Tripura), May 15 : The Tripura government will soon announce new recruitment rules for all departments, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma has said.
A draft of the revised rules has been prepared and is waiting for the government's approval, Devvarma told reporters yesterday.
He also said that the revised rules will be finalised and announced soon.

Supporters of ruling allies BJP, IPFT clash in Tripura

Agartala ( Tripura), May 10 :Two months after the BJP-IPFT government came to power in Tripura, supporters of the two allies clashed in Dhalai district over demand for a separate tribal state, leaving eight persons injured, police said today.
The Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), which had launched a movement demanding a separate Twipraland state for the tribals earlier, formed a pre-poll coalition with the BJP.

Tripura jawan shoots wife, children and self

Agartala (Tripura) ,May 8 : A 40 yrs old Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan committed suicide in Agartala this morning after killing his wife and two children by his service weapon at home.
The Incident  comes just two days after a young BSF jawan committed suicide after shooting dead three of his colleagues in North Tripura.
The incident have sent shockwaves  in Subhasnagar area in southern locality of the city.
