Nagaland : Hornbill International Rock Contest 2017 begins

Dimapur (Nagaland ) : The much awaited Hornbill International Rock Contest 2017 commenced on Tuesday evening at the Agri Expo site, Dimapur. The preliminary round began with seven of the competing bands out of the 23 that were selected from across the country, performed for the grand prize of rupees ten lakh, on the opening day.
Hidden Identity (Kolkata), Serenade (Kolkata), Switch Blade (Nagaland), North H (Bhutan), The kids we use to know (USA), Head Motif (Darjeeling), Titans (Meghalaya) and Daira (Mumbai) are the 8 eight bands belted out covers and originals in the line up for the grand final.
This year, for the first time the venue of the competition, an integral part of the Hornbill Festival has been changed and it has been brought down from Kohima to Dimapur.
Nine bands out of the 23 will be selected to compete for the top honours at the grand finale scheduled to be held on Friday.
On December 8, the day of the final competition the crowd will be regaled with the performance of the last year’s winner, SNF. This year the first runners up and second runners up will win INR 5 lacs and INR 3.5 lacs respectively.
The line up for the first day of the preliminary round was: Perfect Stick Figure Illustrations (Gangtok), Radio City (Kohima), Seed of Changes (Bengaluru), Radical Change (Mirik, Darjeeling), Avora Records (Aizawl), Trivial (Guwahati) and The Great Decade (Mokokchung).
Soumini Sridhara Paul, Vice President, Artist Aloud (Hungama Media Pvt. Ltd), Uday Benegal, frontman of Indus Creed, and Mhaseve Tetseo (Tetseo Sisters, Rattle and Hum Band and Gear Men Dudes) are the judges for the competition.
