Tripura: PCI chairman in Agartala

Agartala(Tripura): Chairman of Press Council of India (PCI) Justice [Retd] C.K.Prasad on Wednesday assured press fraternity  of Tripura that PCI  will ensure the necessary steps to ensure their security . While the journalists’ organization raised the demand of security of working journalists the PCI Chairman assured  them of all assistance .
The delegates of 10 journalist  organisations met  the visiting PCI Chairman in state guest house.
During meeting with the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar the PCI chairman raised issue of killing of journalists Sudip Datta Bhowmik and Santanu Bhowmick.. The meeting  lasted for 30 minutes. According to sources the meeting was held in cordial atmosphere.
The Agartala Press Club also submitted a memorandum to PCI Chairman.
Soon after the meeting PCI Chairman  called on  the state  DGP and the  Chief Secretary.
The PCI Chairman today also  visited the residence of slain journalist Sudip Datta Bhowmik and expressed  his  condolences  to the bereaved family members.
 A ten member  group of journalists  under the banner of “Protection of Journalists “ today returned  to Agartala from New Delhi  after submitting  memorandum to the President of India, Home Minister and MOS of PMO Dr, Jitendra Singh.
