13 Assam Officers, Arrested In Cash-For-Job Scam, Dismissed From Service

Guwahati (Assam), June 22:  The state  government here  has dismissed 13 arrested state civil services officers for their alleged involvement in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam, according to official sources  .
All the  dismissed officers were under  probation when they were arrested in November last. They are presently  lodged in Guwahati Central Jail.

Guwahati (Assam), June 21 : The Assam Tourism Development Corp (ATDC) is making all out efforts to make it a colourful festival to attract more tourists than just the religious and spiritual ones and has drawn up elaborate plans to promote state's tourism through the festival.
ATDC Chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will inaugurate the festival at Sonaram school playground at Bharalumukh, adding that over 50 religious gurus including the heads of ethnic communities of the region will be present.

6 more die in Assam flood; situation improving in other NE states

Guwahati/Agartala/Imphal , June 20 : The overall flood situation in the north-east showed some improvement   today, except in the state of  Assam, where six more deaths were reported , taking the overall  death toll due to flood  in the region to 31, according to News agency PTI.
As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), four people lost their lives in flood-related incidents in worst-hit Karimganj district while two died in Cachar district since yesterday, taking the death toll in the state to 20.

Kokrajhar(Assam) June 19: Intensifying search operations against militants , police here  arrested  two persons and rescued a  kidnapped priest  within 24-hours from a militants camp  in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar  district. 
Meanwhile ,  search operations against militants  have been intensified   in the region.

Tinsukia (Assam), June 19 :Behind the closed doors, a mischief of rats was breeding in the booth. The four-legged rodents tore currency notes worth 12 lakhs into tiny bits and pieces in an unprecedented surgical strike.  
 In Assam’s Tinsukia district a mischief of mice allegedly tore to shred notes worth Rs 12 lakhs inside an ATM cubicle. The ATM belonged to State Bank of India (SBI) in Laipuli area of Tinsukia. The SBI ATM (DFBK – 000196116) was not used since last month.

23 Dead As Flood Ravages Northeast States, Assam Situation Still Grim

Guwahati/Imphal/Agartala  June 18 :  The devastating flood in the Northeast has claimed six more lives during the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 23, although the situation in the region showed a marked improvement on Sunday, barring Assam, officials said.
While five more people died in Assam since Saturday, one person lost his life in Manipur.

Northeast floods: Toll mounts to 17, situation grim in Assam

Guwahati/Agartala, June 17 : The flood situation in Assam worsened on Saturday as four more people lost their lives, taking the death toll in the region to 17, officials said.
Although the situation improved marginally in Tripura and Mizoram in the past 24 hours, one more person died in Manipur from flood-related incidents.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), four persons lost their lives in flood and landslide related incidents during the last 24 hours.

North East Floods: NDRF Rescues Over 3,600 People From Tripura, Assam; 10 Teams Stationed In Affected Regions

New Delhi , June 16 : Over 3,600 people have been rescued from the flood-affected regions of Tripura and Assam, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said on Saturday.
Ten teams of the central relief and rescue force, comprising about 450 personnel, have been deployed to tackle the flood situation in Tripura.
