Normalcy returning to Meghalaya, tourism picks up: Minister

Shillong (Meghalaya), June 18 :Meghalaya is still a favourite among tourists and the improving law and order situation in Shillong, which witnessed tension early this month, has brought about "positive vibes", aiding tourist inflow, according to state Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh.
 
Clashes in the first week of June between Khasis and Sikhs in the city's Punjabi Lane area had briefly affected tourism in Shillong, popularly known as 'Scotland of the East'.
 
 

CM Conrad highlights Meghalaya's initiative at NITI Aayog Meet

New Delhi , June 17 :  Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today spoke at length on different verticals to take the State forward in the growth trajectory in core sectors including health and agriculture at the 4th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.
 
 

Meghalaya Baby League 2018 launched

Shillong(Meghalaya), June16:The first full day of the inaugural Meghalaya Baby League was a rousing success, with the children in all age groups involved in some lovely football throughout the 30 matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex here on Saturday. 
 
The MBL 2018 is the joint initiative of Tata Trusts, the Meghalaya Football Association and All India Football Federation. 
 
All 12 teams were involved in the action today at the three venues – Third Ground, the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Futsal Ground.

Meghalaya to implement Ayushman Bharat Health scheme: Minister

Shillong (Meghalaya) , June 15 : Meghalaya government will implement the Centre's Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM), state Health Minister A L Hek has said.
 
Hek made this announcement at the Health Ministers conclave held in New Delhi yesterday, according to an official statement issued here.
 
 
The state government also signed an MoU with Union Health Ministry yesterday and agreed to implement the AB-NHPM in Meghalaya, the statement said.
 

Meghalaya :Mobile internet restored in Shillong after 13 days

Shillong (Meghalaya) , June 13 :Internet services on mobile telephones was restored on Wednesday in the Meghalaya capital as normalcy returned, an official said. Meanwhile, curfew will be relaxed for 15 hours – from 5 am to 8 pm on Thursday in 13-tension hit areas of the city, while night curfew in the Shillong agglomeration will be relaxed from 10 pm to 5 am.
 

Meghalaya CM assures India Mountain Initiative delegation full cooperation

Shillong (Meghalaya), June 13 :  Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today assured a delegation of the India Mountain Initiative (IMI) full cooperation for furthering their activities and intervention in the State.
 
The delegation led by President of IMI Sushil Ramola and Secretary IMI Fantry Mein Jaswal along with other officials met the Chief Minister to explore and strengthen the activities of IMI in the State for enabling mountain people to deal with the unique challenges the people of the region faces.

Ranikor (Meghalaya) , June 12 : The people of Ranikor Constituency in South West Khasi Hills today withstood inclement weather to welcome Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who paid his maiden visit to the area along with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and cabinet colleagues Home Minister James K. Sangma and C&RD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
 
 At the public meeting, Conrad Sangma assured that the demand for creation of a new Ranikor Civil Sub-Division was genuine and would soon be fulfilled.
