Nagaland : Governor Acharya calls for peace

Dimapur (Nagaland) June 19: Nagaland governor PB Acharya while condemning the firing incident that took place in Aboi under Mon district on June 17 claiming lives of two jawans has today appealed NSCN-K to shun violence and return to the negotiating table.
NSCN-K earlier, abrogated the one and half decade long ceasefire with government of India and began attacking the army. 

2 Assam Rifles jawans killed in Nagaland ambush, 4 injured

Kohima (Nagaland ), June 17 : Two Assam Rifles personnel were killed and four others suffered injuries in an ambush by suspected NSCN (K) in Mon district of Nagaland today, an Assam Rifles official said.
The incident occurred around 3 pm near Aboi when armed cadres  ambushed a team comprising six Assam Rifles personnel, said the PRO to the Inspector General of Assam Rifles.

Dan / Noklak (Nagaland ), June 9 :A decision by Myanmar to fence an imaginary boundary in Nagaland’s Dan village in Noklak district has led to a growing anger which threatens to turn into a major revolt. The anger of the Khiamniungan Nagas are also direct against the Indian government which is providing security to Myanmar to undertake the fencing work. 

Nagaland Police issues advisory on fake news in social media

 “All social media users should exercise extreme caution while sharing any such information with friends or public,” stated the PRO, Police Headquarters, Kohima, in a communique.

NSCN-K Attack Assam Rifles Camp in Nagaland

Mon (Nagaland ) , June 6 : An Army Major and a jawan  was among two personnel injured during an attack by the militants belonging  to NSCN (K) in Nagaland.
The attack was carried out at around 2:20 am on Tuesday when a  group of the militants fired a barrage of shots targeting a “Charlie company” of the 41 Assam Rifles at Lempong Shingha in eastern Nagaland’s Mon district. The site is around 17 km away from district headquarters Mon.

Nagaland : NSCN-IM clarifies on Tirap clash

Dimapur(Nagaland) , June 4: NSCN-IM has clarified that the May 31 incident between Namsang and Shumshi village under Deomali jurisdiction in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh resulting in loss of precious lives was never intended.
“It was an absolute unintentional occurrence, never motivated by any ill-attempt to disrespect all that the Naga civil bodies have ceaselessly embodied in various covenants in their thrive for Journey Of Common Hope,” said a clarification issued.

Nagaland : NDPP's Tokheho Yepthomi Wins

Kohima (Nagaland) , May 31: All eyes were on the Nagaland Lok Sabha bypoll result 2018 counting on Thursday as the political battle heated up between the prime contesting parties – Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Naga People’s Front (NPF). Not taking the contest lightly, NDPP upped the ante by fielding senior party leader Tokheho Yepthomi who has also served as a cabinet minister from 1995 to 2008. His competitor is NPF candidate C Apok Jamir who also has the support of Congress.

Nagaland Lok Sabha Bye-Elections: NDPP takes lead by over 34,000 votes

Kohima (Nagaland ) ,May 31: Counting of votes begun at 8 am for the Nagaland Lok Sabha bye-elections amid tight security. The elections were held on May 28.
The ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) is leading over by 34,000 votes. TV reports say that while NDPP candidate has secured 2,46,822 votes, NPF nominee has got 2,12,153 votes.
